About this opportunity:

The yard is a family yard run by top dressage rider Alice Begg. It is small and professional with high standards; the horses have 5* treatment. Solarium in both wash boxes Hot and cold water Rubber matting stable with sides and base covered Treadmill 18 acres Stallion paddocks Large arena with full set of jumps Full security & CCTV cameras Heated tack room Tea room Flood lit arena with top quality surface Hacking facilities – road and off road Yard manager on site Training on site everyday/when required

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated equine groom who is looking to further their knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will work alongside our current team, handling and caring for our competition horses.

Working with professional people, the training will give a good foundation to go on and work in any sphere of equestrian.

Yard duties will include:

  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Mucking out
  • Feeding, watering and haying
  • Grooming
  • Clipping and trimming
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
  • Bandaging
  • Tacking up
  • Lunging/long rein
  • Riding

A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, dedicated team. Within the role, the successful candidate will be working towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Equine with further training and employment available for the right candidate.

  • Applicants must have some experience of handling horses and show this on application

Desired qualifications

  • GCSEs or equivalent in maths and English are desired
  • Applicants MUST NOT already hold a level 2 or higher in horse care.

Future prospects

  • Progression onto level 3 for the right candidate.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
