About this opportunity:

This is a practice floor based position where you will be helping customers with frame and lens options, dispensing spectacles and booking appointments. You will be required to help and be trained in all areas of the practice to assist with the smooth running of the business. We are looking for a friendly individual who is able to dispense and manage a reception. This is a long term opportunity and the successful candidate will be given every opportunity to progress into a management type of role in the future.

As a valued member of our small team you will be involved in dispensing high valued optical frames and lenses. There is a scope to enhance our bespoke spectacle frames and tailor made varifocal lenses.

The practice has children and older patients and you will be expected to cater for their needs. As an Optical Assistant you will trained check spectacle lenses when they arrive from the laboratory as well as adjusting spectacles for patients. Not to forget the daily role of booking patients and repairing their spectacles.

You will be involved in seeing optical sales representatives and ordering frames for the practice so expect a lot of variety to your role.

You will be required to help and be trained in all areas of the practice to assist with the smooth running of the business.

  • Providing customer care

  • Advising customer’s eyewear solutions that best suit their fashion sense and their vision needs
  • Booking eye examinations
  • Measuring eyewear frames/lenses
  • General shop duties such as ensuring the premises are clean, tidy and inviting

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE C (9-4) in English and Maths required so please state ALL of your qualifications in your application
  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 in customer service
