Dog Groomer Apprentice

A fantastic opportunity to join a professional team role combining hands-on experience in a busy salon environment. The skills learnt will give the successful candidate the skills and confidence to build a successful career in dog grooming. The dog grooming apprentice will be assisting our head groomer with the day to day chores in the grooming room. We have had two previous apprentices in our daycare centre, both have continued to full time employment within the company.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

• Welcoming customers to the salon
• Preparing dogs for grooming, bathing, drying and nail clipping
• Assisting in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness of the salon
• Working as a team member to ensure the smooth running of a busy salon
• Follow instructions from team members
• Learning how to handle and style dogs
• Basic work book and software use
• Maintaining equipment
• Walking and exercising dogs

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate apprentice dog groomer to join our team to progress onto becoming a full time stylist.

Desired Skills & Qualities

• First and foremost you must have a passion for dogs
• You must have a good work ethic (and turn up on time!)
• Be good at time keeping and keeping to a schedule
• Have a good customer relationship and enjoy talking to owners
• Be happy to follow instructions and accept constructive criticism
• Be self-motivated to complete your qualification to a high standard
• Work well in a team
• Confidence to work with a wide range of dogs from puppies to old dogs
• Applicants MUST show a keen interest in working with dogs in their application to be considered

Desired Qualifications

• GCSE Grade 4/C maths and English or equivalent desired but not essential.
• Applicants MUST NOT already hold a level 2 of higher in dog grooming, sadly this will make you ineligible to apply for this position.

Future Progression

• Possibility for future employment and further training for the right candidate.

Training

• Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
• The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Dog Groomer Apprenticeship
• The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
• The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
