Dog Grooming Assistant Apprentice

Due to high demand for Dog Grooming services in Honley, near Huddersfield in the Holme Valley area, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Dog Grooming Assistant to come and work for Pooch Perfection.  You will have the opportunity to work in a rapidly growing business where people make the difference, and where we pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, with our emphasis being on providing a caring and loving environment for our pooches alongside top quality grooms that delight their owners.  Technically, you will be provided with the latest and most effective equipment to help you achieve this, while personally we expect that your animal-loving personality will shine through and help us to continue to stand out from our competitors.

Duties will include, but not limited to;

• As Dog Grooming Assistant you will be a key part of our team, assisting the other Dog Groomers while you learn, and helping us to deliver the very highest standard of dog grooming and care for our customers.
• Your excellent communication skills will be fully utilised as you will be dealing with customers and their dogs on a daily basis in tasks including scheduling appointments, providing grooming advice and taking payments for services.
• You will assist in ensuring excellent salon presentation is maintained and high standards are kept through cleanliness, safety and good standards of housekeeping.

Desired Strength and Qualities

• Having some experience of Grooming or at least a Grooming environment would be a bonus, but not essential.
• You’ll have a proven track record of reliability and delivering high standards. As a small business it is key that we can depend on you.
• You’ll be a people person, have a real passion for dogs as well as being a great team player with good communication skills.
• You’ll have a patient nature.
• You’ll be hungry to be part of a successful salon and you’ll be proactive in your approach.

Desired Qualifications

• GCSE or equivalent in maths and English Grade 4/C desirable but not essential.
• Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in dog grooming.

Future Prospects

•  We have an excellent track record of training apprentices. Some apprentices choose to stay with us, while others choose for a variety of reasons to gain employment elsewhere. No apprentices to our knowledge have chosen to leave Grooming after completing an apprenticeship with us – we equip them with a superb skillset that enables them to be successful in a Grooming career.

Training

• Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
• The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Dog Groomer Apprenticeship
• The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
• The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
