About this opportunity:

Crippenden Stud is a well established livery yard of 36 years at this location, previously run by Mandy Burr before her retirement this year. Crippenden Stud is a lovely community and the horses we have at livery range from dressage horses, show horses, happy hackers and children’s ponies and are all just as important as each other. We run a seven day part livery service and also grass livery for a small mixed herd.

We are a well established livery yard with an emphasis on happy horses, happy owners and happy staff.  Crippenden is very much a community or one very large family where people like to come and relax and enjoy being with their horses.

We try to encourage a relaxed atmosphere but always maintaining a high standard of care for our liveries.

Daily duties involve, but not limited to;

  • mucking out
  • skipping out
  • watering
  • haynet filling
  • feeding, grooming
  • turning horses out and bringing in
  • rug changes
  • yard sweeping.
  • There are also opportunities to exercise horses at owner’s requests.

Desired Skills and Qualities

  • Previous experience working with and handling horses.
  • Must be cheerful and willing to help out no matter what
  • Goes the extra mile
  • Most of all must love and be kind to the horses

Desired Qualifications

  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in equine.
  • GCSE Grade c/4 or equivalent in maths and English desirable but not essential.

Potential Career Progression

  • Most of our apprentices stay on as there are full time working opportunities.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
