About this opportunity:

Since the business was established at Hall Farm Stables in 2005, it has steadily grown and developed. Our yard is BHS, Pony Club and RDA Accessibility Mark approved, offering BHS qualified instruction. We have well-schooled horses for lessons and hacks. Two floodlit all-weather outdoor arena’s one with judges’ box, 20 x 60 and 20 x25 metre Extensive grazing and six boxes for liveries. We have a great team with one thing in common; a passion about horses and riding. The welfare of our horses and riders is paramount. Thus we pride ourselves in a small, well-run yard managed to high standards of yard management, teaching and horsemanship. It is important to us that you enjoy the yard as much as we do, so we keep the atmosphere relaxed and friendly.

A fantastic equine groom apprentice opportunity to learn in paid position for a career in the equine industry.

Duties will include, but not limited to;

  • Assisting/observing vet and farrier.
  • Mucking out, sweeping
  • Tack cleaning
  • Assisting with preparation of horses for competition.
  • Assisting with handling of youngstock including foals.
  • Riding opportunities including backing and breaking.
  • Assisting instructors in lessons.
  • Instructor training and opportunity to gain qualification in this.
  • Communicating with customers.

Desired Skills and Qualities

  • Previous equine experience required.
  • Interest in teaching and riding
  • Good communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • GCSE’s, or equivalent in maths and English desired, but not essential.
  • Must not hold Level 2 or higher in equine.

Future prospects

  • Employment within the organisation if a position is available.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Things to consider

  • The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
