About this opportunity:

Hemp Green Riding school provide a high level of tuition and riding instruction that enables you to progress in your chosen field. Our team has a whole host of experience and help you reach your equine goals from BHS exam training, hunting and competitions including grassroots, in-house competitions.

An exciting equine groom opportunity to train and develop on the job in a busy riding school and livery environment with the opportunity to compete in-house.

Duties to include, but not limited to;

  • Mucking out
  • Poo picking
  • Bringing in and Turning out
  • Grooming
  • Tacking up
  • Riding
  • Tack cleaning
  • Assisting with veterinary care etc as required
  • Prepping horses for exams/competitions
  • Riding for the coach exams
  • Competition grooming

Desired Skills and Qualities

  • Previous equine experience essential and riding ability to walk, trot and canter independently
  • Fitness to carry out yard duties and exercising horses as required
  • Team player
  • Good communication skills

Desired Qualifications 

  • Applicants must NOT already hold a level 2 or higher in equine.
  • Maths and English Grade C/4 or equivalent desirable, but not essential.

Future Progression

  • Possible full employment or opportunity to train towards a level 3 equine if a position available.

Training 

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
