About this opportunity:

Hollie Swain is a young, ambitious International event rider based at Slades Farm, Bramely boasted excellent facilities including a cross country course designed by Badminton Course Designer, Eric Winter. Hollie is currently working towards building a team of horses, owners and sponsors to represent New Zealand.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fun a friendly team learning all aspects involved for a career in the equine industry.

Duties will include, but not limited to;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out and catching in
  • Making feeds
  • Haynets
  • Cleaning tack
  • Exercising horse

Desired Skills and Qualities

  • Experience with horses is a must and ideally have own and looked after own horse.
  • Team player
  • Good communication
  • Use of initiatve
  • Motivated and enthusiastic – you must want to work in the industry and understand the expectations when working on a competition yard.
  • Can do attitude with a willingness to learn.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C/4 or above
  • Applicants must not already hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in the equine sector to be eligible for this apprenticeship.

Future Prospects

  • Potential progression to Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship
  • Future employment for the right candidate.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Things to consider

  • There may be the possibility to bring your own horse for the right candidate
  • Ideally candidate must have a driving license due to the location of the business.
