About this opportunity:

We are a top competition yard, accommodating competitive riders, casual riders and retired horses alike. We have high level facilities including a 20x60m outdoor area, solarium, rubber matted walker, spacious tack room and all year turn out. Based at Austens Farm in Jordans, Buckinghamshire, we have access to extensive hacking at Hodgemoor woods, just a short road walk away. We are accessible from London and well placed for travelling to many competitions.
This is a vacancy at a busy competition and livery yard with a wide range of horses.  Sacha Hamilton has an extensive and successful career in the riding world, having competed in Eventing, Showing and Dressage. With Dressage now being her main discipline, she has trained horses from Novice through to Grand Prix, and has competed to Inter II. This experience allows her to provide invaluable advice and training to our liveries, including accompanying them to Shows or riding and competing horses on their behalf.

Yard duties will include:

  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Mucking out
  • Feeding, watering and haying
  • Grooming
  • Clipping and trimming
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
  • Bandaging
  • Tacking up
  • Lunging/long rein
  • Riding/hacking
  • Attending shows/events

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, hard-working team. Within the role, the successful candidate will be working towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horse Care, with the possibility of further training and employment available for the right candidate.

  • Applicants must have some experience of handling horses and show this on application
  • Applicants must be confident to ride fit and fast horses.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
