About this opportunity:

Amazing and new apprenticeship at a busy rehabilitation yard in East Sussex. A busy job looking after 21 horses and aiding visits from professionals. Apply now!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual looking to develop their skills in horse care. You will work with our experienced team looking after 21 horses and your job will include all yard duties such as:

  • mucking out
  • grooming
  • bringing in and out of fields
  • lunging
  • possibility of some riding depending on experience.
  • working with any rehabilitation completing their set treatment
  • assisting vets, physios and farriers
  • assisting in rehabilitation centre

You will be assessing horses’ soundness and working with lunging longlining, hand walking, learning to assess horses for the treadmill and looking at how their bodies are performing.

You will be working with experienced staff and gaining experience whilst completing a level 2 equine apprenticeship.

Lessons on own horse are included in the job! Accommodation can be provided for both you and you horse!

  • Previous riding experience and confidence handling a variety of horses is essential and must be shown on application

Desired qualifications

  • English and maths GCSE’s, or equivalents, are desired
  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Horse Care to be eligible

  • Previous learners have stayed on then gone on to work on top yards, and current learner is due to finish and is staying on.
  • Future career in equine rehabilitation.
  • The right learner will be offered the chance to stay on and either continue with level 3 or gain more experience with the rehabilitation side

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
