About this opportunity:

Alessandra is a dressage rider and trainer who specialises in balancing a classical ethos with successful modern competitive dressage training and rider biomechanics. Alessandra studied Sports Science at Durham University and trained in Germany under Britta Johnston International Sport Horses, for whom she became assistant rider and trainer for during her time out there. On her return to the UK. Alessandra decided to combine her love of dressage with her sports science background to create a unique training perspective, where she is able to help riders not only improve their horses way of going through classical techniques, but also enable riders to realise their own potential using her specialist knowledge and expertise. Alessandra has trained horses from Novice to Grand Prix and enjoys coaching riders from multiple disciplines.

An exciting opportunity for an equine groom apprentice to work with a sponsored grand prix rider and learn invaluable industry skills as well as gain a recognised qualification ready for a successful career with horses.

Duties will include, but not limited to;

  • Assisting/observing with sponsors such as vet/physio and farrier.
  • Everyday equine tasks such as mucking out and yard duties.
  • Tack cleaning and field maintenance
  • Assisting with preparation of horses for competition.
  • Assisting with equine hydrotherapy and travelling to clinics
  • Riding opportunities for the right candidate
  • Opportunity to travel and groom at events and show
  • Communicating with customers.

Desired Qualifications

  • Applicants cannot already hold a level 2 in equine to complete a level 2 apprenticeship, but may be considered for a level 3 position.
  • GCSE maths and English grade C/4 desirable but not essential.

Future Progression

  • Future employment for the right candidate.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
