About this opportunity:

JB Crippen is a showjumping livery/ training yard with horses of all ages and levels from young to grand prix level, as well as stallions, part liveries and trainees. JB Crippen is a professional, fun, relaxed and supportive environment.

We are looking for a new senior equine groom to join our team. There are opportunities to bring your own and horse and have support in achieving your goals.  Can you think on your feet, but are not worried about asking for help?

Daily tasks will include, but not limited to;

  • feeding
  • mucking out
  • turning horses out and catching in
  • grooming
  • feeding
  • cleaning tack

 

Desired Skill and Qualities 

  • Previous Experience with horses, details MUST be shown on application
  • Skills to work independently, take charge and work well within the team
  • Being Able to learn new skills and be open to different ways to achieve these
  • Work safely in the work space
  • Dedicated and passionate
  • Observant

Desired Qualifications

  • English and maths GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent desirable, but not essential.
  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Equine.

Potential Progression 

  • Employment for the right candidate if a position should arise. Our previous apprentice has now been with us 4 years and our Show Groom.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 3 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Things to consider

  • Accommodation for Apprentice and their horse available if required.
  • The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
