About this opportunity:

Park Farm Stables is a family run livery/stud yard based in Oxted, Surrey. Offering part and full livery and specialise in premium equine care. Run by on-site managers Amanda and James, who are animal lovers passionate about providing excellent livery services for horse and pony owners in Surrey and Kent.

A great opportunity for an apprentice to learn so much including breeding, AI, young horses and backing along with day to day yard routines. 

Duties to include but not limited to;

  • Mucking out
  • Yard duties
  • Turning out
  • Tacking up
  • exercising
  • Feeding
  • Assisting with young stock
  • Handling and care of competition horses
  • Helping with Livery clients/ horses

Desired skills and Qualities:

  • Previous riding experience and confidence handling a variety of horses is essential and must be shown on application
  • Good customer service skills are needed

Desired Qualifications 

  • English and maths GCSE’s, or equivalents, are desired.
  • Driving licence (desirable due to location or must have the means to travel to location).
  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Horse Care to be eligible for a level 2 apprenticeship, unless the employer will consider and can train for a level 3 senior groom.

Future prospects

Training 

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
