Duties include:

  • Mucking out
  • Yard duties
  • Turning out
  • Tacking up
  • Assisting at competitions
  • Feeding
  • Assisting with young stock
  • Handling and care of competition horses
  • Helping with Livery clients/ horses

Desired skills

  • Previous experience and confidence handling a variety of horses is essential and must be shown on application.
  • Good customer service skills are needed

Desired qualifications

  • English and maths GCSE’s, or equivalents, are desired.
  • If applicants already hold a level 1 in horse care is desired.
  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Horse Care to be eligible for a level 2. If they do, they may be considered for a level 3 position.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
