The Diploma in Work Based Animal Care is a City and Guilds qualification and is recognised and respected across the animal care industry. It demonstrates that you are dedicated and driven to improve your skills and knowledge. The required high standard of the award will confirm an excellent level of competence within your chosen field.

A Diploma in Work Based Animal Care at level 2 suits a wide range of people. It may be your first job working with animals or you may have moved within the industry. With access to a range of tailored pathways, your assessor can plan your program especially to suit you and the requirements of your business.

Range of Animal Care Industries

The diploma can be completed within a range of animal care industries. The tailored pathways are Animal Care and Welfare, Zoos/wildlife Establishments, Dog Grooming, Pet Care and Retail, Animal Training and Service Dog Handling. High achievement rates have been seen across all pathways which has improved learners job prospects and in many cases, allowed learners to progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Animal Care.

Eligibility

There is government funding available for this qualification in Animal care and one of the main criteria is that you have a contract of employment of 30 hours a week.

Volunteers within Animal Care

If you are a volunteer within the animal care sector then you may also be eligible for government funding to support the completion of the Diploma. You never know what opportunities there are out there when it comes to government funding opportunities.

Local Employment

Apprenticeships work with local businesses to support local employment opportunities. That support into work is not exclusive to young people but supportive of many different types of people returning to work or retraining.
