From the the age of 15 Matthew had only one ambition, to become a vet. However, after a curveball he had to look at other career options. He tells us his story and why you should never give up on your dream.
”After finishing college in 2018 without an offer, I was forced to find another option, at least for a short while. This led me to think that I may find another enjoyable career opportunity. So, in January 2019 I began my Equine Groom apprenticeship at Quob Stables, with KEITS Training Services.
During my apprenticeship I gained much experience in both a fast-paced working environment, and in life as a whole. It also opened up other potential pathways for me by connecting me to people in different areas of the equine industry. Throughout 2019 and 2020, I witnessed many veterinary appointments as part of my apprenticeship, each one reigniting my desire to study at university. Finally, in October 2021, after completing my apprenticeship with KEITS, retaking my Chemistry A-Level and moving on from Quob, I finished my application to try once more for vet school.
Now, in 2022, I have received a place at The Royal Veterinary College in London to study Veterinary Medicine.
I couldn’t be more excited and without my apprenticeship with KEITS I would not be on my way to becoming a vet at all!”
