Rebecca has recently had her last visit with her assessor Angela at The Dogs Turst in Canterbury and has been awarded apprentice of the month for all her efforts during her apprenticeship.
Angela has said “I have just completed my last visit with Rebecca Andrews at Canterbury Dogs Trust. She has been a fantastic apprentice from day one. Always producing work to a very high standard and going the extra mile in providing excellent detail. Rebecca has grown in confidence within her role at the Dog Trust and has become a valid member of the team. She has developed excellent practical skills and knowledge throughout her time on the apprenticeship and shows the ability to work successfully both on her own and as part of a team. I always receive lovely feedback on Rebecca’s performance and attitude from both her managers and colleagues each time I visit. She has shown a genuine passion for all the dogs in her care and works hard to ensure that they are cared for to the highest standard. Rebecca is particularly interested in rehabilitation and training, and has enjoyed the challenges of working with her ‘project’ dogs to help develop their confidence and socialisation skills in order to help them move forward and find their forever homes. This is Rebecca’s ultimate goal and she finds it so rewarding to see dogs leave the centre to start their new life, especially the ones with more complex needs. Rebecca has also developed her role further and is now able to assist members of the public with the adoption application process, which requires skills including excellent communication, completion of formal documentation and making decisions based on suitability of both dogs and people.”
Rebecca has now also been offered full time employment as a Canine Carer with The Dogs Trust so will continue to work for them – something she has always dreamed about.
Rebecca has also recently created a blog for The Dogs Trust answering some questions about her apprenticeship:
