Are you sure your business is keeping up with latest legislation? If not, it could prove very costly:
- It is a legal requirement for all employers to give all their paid employees, including apprentices, a written contract of employment on day one of their employment. This includes those on trial or probationary periods.
- Apprentices must also receive itemised pay slips each week/month that they are employed.
- As of 26th October 2024, employers have a legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in their business and create a safe working environment. This applies to all employers, regardless of the number and types of employees they have.
- Employers have a duty to consider the risks of sexual harassment happening in their business, including third party risks, the steps they could take to reduce those risks, decide which steps are reasonable for them to take and put them in place.
- Guidance on this new legislation and how to assess the risks, develop plans, procedures and policies can be found on the Acas website, or by calling them on 0300 123 1100
