Learning mentor
Mentoring has been the backbone of vocational training and apprenticeships and this standard is the first formal recognition of this important role within businesses.
Learning Mentors support learners of all ages, and all levels, to develop within a new work role. These learners may be, for example, apprentices, trainees, or new recruits (ranging from young entrants to new CEOs) in the workplace, or in any vocational learning environment.
This Apprenticeship Standard will enable the mentor to understand the importance of the role within the Organisation.
The learning mentor apprentice will develop Core Behaviours including an ethos of motivation, passion for learning, ethics, professional boundaries, valuing equality and diversity, resilience and adaptability, self-control, and respect in professional contexts.
Award in Education and Training
KEITS also offer the City and Guilds 6502 Award in Education and Training which is a recognised qualification for those who want to pursue a role in a range of educational settings. It has been designed as an introduction for candidates who work, or want to work, as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector.
The aim of the programme is to:
- provide an introduction to the principles, theories and practice of teaching and training
- enable learners to reflect on and develop their personal skills and teaching experiences
- introduces the professional role of the teacher/trainer
