Traineeships Vs Apprenticeships

Thinking about Traineeships and Apprenticeships,? Confused by what the difference is and which might be the right path to choose?

We know that it can be a little confusing understanding the difference and which on is right for you.

Let us help, here is the difference.

Traineeship:

A traineeship is a stepping-stone into an apprenticeship, work, and future success for young people.

It offers a variety of benefits for Trainees and employers.

The Trainee receive work preparation training which ensures you have the skills and confidence needed for an Apprenticeship or any other type of employment. They are supported to improve their maths, English and digital skills.  They receive meaningful work experience which provides insight and experience of the world of work.

For the Employer it creates opportunities for them to work with young people with a view to employing them as a future apprentice. It aims to support employers in meeting their local community and labour market needs. It can bring fresh ideas and increase productivity in their business.

The Traineeship usually last a minimum of 10 weeks.

Apprenticeship:

An apprenticeship is a training course that enables the person to learn career specific skills and knowledge whilst gaining valuable experience to set them on the right path for their chosen career.

For the apprentice they will gain practical hands-on work experience and valuable skills and knowledge, all whilst earning a wage.  A course structure that is suited to how they learn. After an apprenticeship 90% of people stay in employment and 92% of apprentices feel their apprenticeship had a positive impact on their career.

For the employer allows the business to grow the number of staff with nationally recognised courses. Apprentices bring fresh ideas and increase the skill base of the business. Some incentives are available for taking on 16 to 18 year old apprentice and a course that is tailor made to suit the needs of the business. It may also offer a pool of good candidates for future posts and often leads to better employee retention.

Throughout the course the apprentice and employer have access to support from KEITS’ highly trained and qualified staff.  Apprenticeships are for everyone and any age.

An apprenticeship can last from a minimum of 15 months to 24 months
