Equine Groom Apprentice
(Monnington Equestrian)

Weekly Hours:

32 hours – 8am-12 noon and 3-5;30pm, training during and in between these hours.

Salary:

£10 per hour (higher wage offered based on experience)

About this opportunity:

Monnington Equestrian is a livery yard with about 23 horse, complete mix of ages, breeds, and disciplines they are ridden in. Full or part and retirement livery. They have had 3 previous KEITS apprentices so are very experienced in providing apprenticeship training.

Yard Duties will include:

  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Mucking out
  • Feeding, watering, and haying
  • Grooming
  • Clipping and trimming
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
  • Tacking up

  • Applicant must be confident in handling a variety of horses and should show this in their application

Desired qualifications

  • Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
  • Applicants must hold a level 2 or higher in Equine.
  • Ideally can drive or have the means to get here with hours and our rural location in mind.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Future prospects

  • There is a possibility of employment after the apprenticeship for the right candidate

Things to consider

  • There is no accommodation on site. Applicants should ideally have a driving licence or reliable access to transport as the business is in a rural location with no public transport.
