About this opportunity:

The job entails training in all aspects of grounds and greens management. It will require a diligent, dedicated person who wants to work and learn and develop a skill.

Mentoring will be given and there will be some interaction with the Club members.

The job will entail the use, (when capable) of all types of machinery including:

  • mowers
  • hedge cutting
  • leaf blowing
  • brushing
  • turf repair
  • preparation of green playing surfaces
  • line painting
  • strimming
  • use of chemicals
  • general maintenance of items
  • use of tractors when capable

  • Practical/hands-on skills essential
  • Knowledge of plants & horticulture (desirable)

  • The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.

Training:

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Sports Turf Operative Apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
  • You will also need to achieve Level 3 award in Emergency First Aid at Work and Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance or Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides before undertaking the End Point Assessment.
