About this opportunity:

Braeside Equestrian Centre is situated on the outskirts of a network of fantastic bridleways. We are a small and friendly yard offering lovely willing well kept horses in a beautiful environment. Our staff are always welcoming and happy to help riders make the most of their experience at Braeside. All standards of riding catered for, mainly offering one to one tuition to get the best out of the session. We offer Pony stars, Challenge awards and BHS stage 1 -2 training, in small friendly groups. We believe in giving quality tuition whilst having fun!

An exciting equine groom apprentice opportunity in the beautiful Kent countryside on a small and friendly yard.

Duties will include, but not limited to;

  • Assisting/observing vet and farrier.
  • Mucking out, sweeping
  • Tack cleaning
  • Assisting with preparation of horses for competition.
  • Assisting with handling of youngstock including foals.
  • Riding opportunities including backing and breaking.
  • Assisting instructors in lessons.
  • Instructor training and opportunity to gain qualification in this.
  • Communicating with customers.

Desired Skills and Qualities

  • Previous equine experience required, please give details on application.
  • Hardworking

  • Good communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • GCSE’s, or equivalent in maths and English desired, but not essential.
  • Must not hold Level 2 or higher in equine.

Future prospects

  • Progression to Level 3 Equine
  • Employment within the organisation if a position is available.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Things to consider

  • Livery available if required.
  • The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
