About this opportunity:

Albion Equine is a full livery stables, as well as home to international showjumper Elizabeth Baker. Elizabeth has competed up to 4* 1.60m level and represented Great Britain at Nation Cups as well as being a part of the team that won bronze at the European Championships. We regularly compete on tours all across Europe. We have also begun our venture into breeding, with our first foal born this Spring, and the aim to have at least 4 born next year. We are looking for an apprentice to work alongside Elizabeth and ensure the best care possible for our horses in their daily routine. We are a fun and friendly team, with a great work ethic. This role will also include the opportunity to travel around Europe to FEI International competitions and grooming to a high level.

We are currently searching for a passionate and dedicated Apprentice who is looking to further their knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will work alongside our current team handling and caring for competition horses.
By working with professional people on a daily basis, our training will give a good foundation to go on and be successful working in any sphere of the equine industry.

Yard duties will include but not limited to;

  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Mucking out
  • Feeding, watering and haying
  • Grooming
  • Clipping and trimming
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
  • Bandaging
  • Tacking up
  • Lunging/long rein Tack cleaning
  • Helping in the arena with jumps and setting courses
  • Handling stallions
  • Attending International competitions

Desired Skills an Qualities 

  • Committed
  • Previous experience with horses which must be shown on application.
  • Good Communication

Desired Qualifications

  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Equine.
  • GCSE maths and English Grade 4/C or equivalent desirable, but not essential

Possible Progression

  • There is a possibility of progressing on to Level 3 Senior Equine Groom or employment if a position is available.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
