About this opportunity:

Bulchins Farm is situated just off the A272 on the outskirts of Wisborough Green heading towards Petworth. Justin Morgan runs a professional business comprising a range of services including Livery, Breaking & Pre-Training and Rest and Recuperation. We have a range of facilities on site which cater for every riders’ needs whether you’re a happy hacker or competition rider. Justin, having previously been based at Hazelhurst Stables, Wisborough Green, has recently relocated to Bulchins Farm Stud less than half a mile down the road. In the 10 years that he was based at Hazelhurst he has acquired a reputation second to none for professionalism and attention to detail.
We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated Apprentice who is looking to further their knowledge and skills.  The successful candidate will work alongside our current team handling and caring for our horses.

 Working with professional people, the training will give a good foundation to go on and work in any sphere of equestrian.

A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on. We offer several livery options:

  • Part or Full Livery
  • Breaking Livery
  • Sales Livery

Yard Duties will include:

  • Turning out and bringing in.
  • Mucking out.
  • Feeding, watering and haying.
  • Grooming.
  • Clipping and trimming.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times.
  • Bandaging.
  • Tacking up.
  • Lunging/long rein.
  • Riding.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, hard-working team.  Within the role the successful candidate will be working toward a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horse Care with further training and employment available for the right candidate.

Desired skills and qualities

  • Must be able to work on own initiative at times and as part of a team
  • Applicants must had some experience of handling horses and show this on application

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE’s or equivalent in maths and English are desired
  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Horse Care

Future prospects

  • Progression onto level 3 for the right candidate

Training 

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
