About this opportunity:

Tunstall is offering a new apprenticeship opportunity for someone who is keen and willing to learn and develop their skills and knowledge to prepare them for a career in the equestrian industry. You will not only be involved in daily yard activities, but also the training and exercising of competition and young horses. This vacancy can be a level 2 or 3 apprenticeship.

The successful candidate will not only be involved in every day stable duties, but also the producing and exercising of the livery horses, for the right candidate.

Some duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Feeding and turning in/out of horses
  • Stable management and maintenance
  • Grooming and show preparation
  • Exercising, including hacking & schooling

Desired skills and Qualities

  • Previous experience working with horses is essential to this role and examples will need to be given in your application.
  • Customer service skills are desired with good communication.
  • Reliable with good time management skills.
  • The applicant needs to work well within a team but also use their own initiative.
  • A keen interest in a high standard or work is essential along with producing high quality competition horses.

Desired qualifications

  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in a horse care related qualification to be eligible and considered for this apprenticeship unless they wish to be considered for a level 3.
  • GCSEs, or equivalent, in maths and English are desirable

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship.

  • Future full time employment at Tunstall will be available for the right candidate.

  • The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
  • A level 3 Senior Equine Groom would be considered if you already hold a level 2 in Equine or have a higher level of equine experience.
