About this opportunity:

Nicola is passionate about business, whether it be finding the right horse for you, instruction, livery and breeding. Offering a high standard of care to her clients, she is dedicated to developing her staff as well as the horses in her care and riders that visit her yard regularly. The successful candidate will work alongside our current team, handling and caring for our horses.

A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on.

Yard duties will include:

  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Mucking out
  • Feeding, watering and haying
  • Grooming
  • Clipping and trimming
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
  • Bandaging
  • Tacking up
  • Lunging/long reining
  • Riding

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, hard-working team with a successful Olympic Dressage rider. Within the role, the successful candidate will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship and may have the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 Senior Groom Apprenticeship. This can be a live in position and provide accommodation.

Desired skills and qualities

  • Strong horse handling experience, details of which must be shown on the application
  • Owning own horse an advantage
  • Reliable, happy and keen to learn

Desired qualifications

  • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent is desirable
  • The successful candidate must not already hold a level 2 or level 3 in equine to be eligible for this apprenticeship. If you already hold a level 2 the employer may consider offering a level 3, depending on the candidate.

Future prospects

  • The opportunity to move onto the Level 3 Senior Groom Apprenticeship should the position be available for a suitable candidate.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
