About this opportunity:

Fiona is an international event rider who is ranked in the top 100 BE rides. She competes and produces horses up to 5* level as well as running a livery yard that offers a wealth of experience for the horses stabled there. Ponds equestrian has FANTASTIC FACILITIES and offers clients a wide range of livery options, from hacking to competition goals.

A fantastic position has become available at one of Surrey’s best livery and event yards. We are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join our team. These is a great working atmosphere with good hours and flexible time off as well as opportunities to learn and develop within the industry.

Duties will include but not limited to;

  • stable and field management
  • equine nutrition
  • yard maintenance
  • exercising horses
  • clean tack and equipment
  • grooming for shows
  • dealing with visits from professionals
  • customer service and livery queries

Desired Skills & Qualities

  • Applicants MUST be confident around horses and have prior experience with them as this is an ADVANCED apprenticeship
  • Able to follow instruction

Desired Qualifications

  • Ideally someone who already holds a level 2 in horse care
  • Driving Licence is required is using off site accommodation due to rural location and no public transport.

Future prospects

  • Possibility of full time work at the end of training, our first apprentice never left! 🙂

Training Provided

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 3 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

  • Sadly we have no space for an apprentice’s horse, however there is a lovely livery yard just up the road that may have livery options for a horse should the apprentice need this.
