About this opportunity:

Pentonville Lodge Stud is an established and well respected show jumping and equestrian riding centre that caters for the beginner, the intermediary and the competition rider. Facilities include a floodlit outdoor flatwork arena, horse walker, show jumping field, local cross-country courses, all year round grazing and the option for full, part time and competition livery. The local bridle paths are also well established and cater for pony trekking and casual hacking.

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed individual looking to develop their skills in horse care. Working alongside our current team handling and caring for sales livery, riding school and livery horses the successful candidate will undertake the usual duties from day to day with the opportunity to attend shows.

This applicant will be working with WORLD CLASS, top showjumping horses so MUST be confident around all equines and ready for a successful career within the industry!

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Mucking out
  • Yard duties
  • Turning out
  • Tacking up
  • Assisting at competitions
  • Feeding
  • Handling and care of competition horses
  • Helping with Livery clients/ horses
  • Assisting with the Stallion

Desired Skills and Qualities

  • Hardworking
  • Committed
  • Reliable
  • Some previous equine experience to be shown on application

Desired Qualifications 

  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in horse care.
  • GCSE math and English grade C/4 or equivalent desirable but not essential.

Future Progression

  • Progression on to level 3 senior equine groom or full employment if a position is available.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
